It was a Thursday crafternoon in Solana Beach... ok, it was more like 6 in the evening but there is really no way to successfully combine the words craft & evening so work with me! The location-- Culture Brewing Co. I had never been, and have yet to visit their OB location, but they have a nice little spot in the Cedros District by The Belly Up. Like most of the shops on that strip, Culture Brew is cozy and chill. The event-- Boxes + Beers. The 'Boxes' portion of the event is hosted by Harry, owner of Rivers Eden design. He essentially makes cool things out of repurposed materials and reclaimed wood. Check out his website to see some photos of his work and register for Sunday's event at Culture, Ocean Beach. The cost of the event covers the materials for the boxes and a couple pours of Culture beer. Choose which box you want, these came with a few plants that were preselected, and then we got to choose a few more to add to our arrangement. The succulents were adorable and there was a really good variety of shapes, colors, sizes and textures. Took a second to admire the gorgeous view in the background of our crafting sesh. Trying not to get dirt in my beer! I had two glasses of the Rye IPA. I can't say I know a ton about beer but I typically go for an IPA and this one didn't disappoint. Good flavor without tasting overly hoppy. Our finished boxes. Mine is on the left! If succulent design and craft beer are your thing then be sure to attend the next Boxes + Beers event at the Culture Brewing Co. in Ocean Beach. I recommend reserving your spot ahead of time at riverseden.com, there was a pretty big turnout on Thursday.
