I love this family restaurant. The owner Justin is amazing. He is a Carlsbad local who loves the community and he truly invests in the people here in North County by having fundraising events on a regular basis. The events held here support people from all walks of life and he particularly loves helping out local kids programs and sports teams. The food is the best authentic Mexican around and the service is excellent. When you visit you will notice the family environment and the friendliness of not only the staff, but the regular customers who go there several times a week. They have an excellent beer and wine selection and cocktails are available as well. Its a great place to hit up late night on the weekends too after doing some fun stuff in town. I love the Shrimp Diablo Tacos. The cream sauce is tangy and full of flavor. I have had many menu items, but I think that's my all time favorite. Taco Tuesday is a great midweek feature at the restaurant...Two tacos, either Al Pastor or Carnitas for $3. Also, check out their happy hour times and specials. My "go to" is the two tacos (your choice) and a 14 oz. beer or glass of wine for $8.50. There are so many great specials at this place. I am definitely guilty of sticking with what I love...Racer 5 IPA. When I go to Grubby's it's usually a simple answer from me because I choose that most of the time. I have tried a lot of the beer there though. I am not afraid to taste something new. The Green Flash is tasty and I like the Peanut Butter Stout as well. The stout has a very unique flavor and I pick that when I want a richer, more full bodied beverage. People in the area stop in for the Pork Belly and sometimes they order it to go because it's that tasty. Seth, one of the employees there, is a foodie and this creation is his baby. Ask him about his take on the Pork Belly and you will hear for yourself the passion that goes into the menu items there. Grubby's also delivers so if you're more in the mood for a night in, but don't feel like cooking, then go that route.
