Seth Rockwell As you wander down State Street in beautiful Carlsbad Village looking for a place to relax and keep cool on a hot summers night, the sounds of music will draw you into another Relm. I couldn’t tell you how or when I stumbled across this gem but I figured it was time to share it with the world. On any given night the sounds of live music light up State Street between Grand and Carlsbad Village Dr. I tend to find myself dancing straight up to the front door. As you enter, you are greeted by a cool breeze. The smell’s flowing from the kitchen and the laughter of the patrons will help you find your seat. Whether you prefer a bar seat for one or a table for your group, Relm has all you require. The wine barrel tables are great for a conversation among friends or you can lounge with that special someone on one of the couches. I prefer a cold beer myself and they do not disappoint. Relm offers 5 draught beers and 4+ bottles to choose from. I prefer Port Brewing’s “Board Meeting Brown” or Stone Ipa. Wine is their specialty, they have an excellent selection covering the majority of wines from around the world. Daily there are 6 reds & 6 whites available by the glass, 50 or more available by the bottle at all times. With over 120+ rotating wines quarterly there is something for everyone in your party. If you're not sure where to start, Relm’s staff has the knowledge to point you in the right direction. Along with a beverage I always order one of Relm’s delicious appetizers prepared fresh daily by Chef Aaron Ahlquist. My go to is their hummus and roasted red pepper & feta with fresh veggies. The prosciutto rolls and baked brie are amazing as well. The cheese board is the essential appetizer for two or more, select meats are available to make it a meal on its own. If you’re feeling famished the flat breads are really delicious. I enjoy the Brie, Pear & Garlic myself. No matter what sounds appetizing, Chef Aaron's menu will leave you with a smile. The Music scene at Relm varies from acoustic covers to original artists, local legends to the occasional rock star appearance. The sounds created inside these walls are sure to massage the days aches & pains away while the positive energy flowing within the patrons will make you feel at home. The walls inside Relm are decorated with local artwork, they change up the gallery every few months. Give me a tasty beverage in a beautiful venue and I am having a good night! Every year, Relm hosts New Year’s Eve, Halloween and their Anniversary party in late June. They just celebrated 5 years strong. Be sure to partake, it's all inclusive food and drinks- till the bottles run dry! Relm hosts wine tastings every 3 months to share whats going to be available that quarter. They also accommodate private parties for 50 people during normal business hours and the entire venue is available on days they are closed. Whether you are on a blind date or meeting old friends, Relm is the the choice destination for an enjoyable evening out in Downtown Carlsbad. Relm
