I had a delicious Grapefruit IPA. I met the owner last night and he explained that the batches of IPA are from a Vanguard series of IPA blends. They create a series of four or five blends from one batch. I loved this craft beer. It was crisp and refreshing and not too bitter. I love hoppy IPAs, but was in more of a mellow mood last night and this hit the spot. I would definitely get it again. Obviously, from the picture you can see that I enjoyed it so much I almost forgot to take a picture. I was almost finished before remembering the Photo-O. I guess that is a pretty good sign of the quality of the beer there. I was in the moment and that is a good thing especially with a tasty IPA in hand. They are located in downtown Vista which is a very hip town these days. There is talk in town that Vista is an emerging spot that is developing a character similar to that of North Park. If you cruise the streets you will definitely notice an artsy flair. I love it and since this girl grew up in Vista I have a true love for these downtown streets. The hours are a little earlier than a standard bar, but it suits the vibe of the venue which is not about getting out for live music or dancing. The vibe there is very unique and more of a cerebral environment where people are usually talking and discussing craft beer and science and how the two relate to one another. After speaking to the owner last night, I learned that they have lectures on topics such as Microbiology and Astrophysics, which is quite impressive. They had their grand opening in March of this year. In my opinion, if you go to this brewery you will most definitely leave happy and wanting to return. The brewery is extremely eclectic while also offering high quality craft beer. The head brewer, James Petty, is a former Karl Strauss brewer. I love Growlers. Grab one on the go... Yes please! This is a great poster that shows all of the amazing topics they teach there. I hope people in the area go to this brewery open to learning something new. I know I did last night at the eclipse event. It was fun and interesting.
